Sponsored by Stow's Rotary Club, Tallmadge Rotary was chartered February
5th, 1985, with 35 initial members. Bruce Bowers and Jim Banks played key
roles in the orginization of a Rotary Club in Tallmadge.

Until 1984, Rotary clubs had no female members. Prior to the admission of
women, wives of members were called "Rotary Anns". Today Rotary claims
136,980 women among its members worldwide. Linda Jones was the first
women in the Tallmadge Rotary, joining in 1987. Julie Oliver will be the first
female president of Tallmadge Rotary.

Tallmadge Rotary was meeting at Erie Station and now will meet at the Tallmadge
Family Restaurant. The weekly meeting day is Thursday at 7:15 A.M.

Rotarians have contributed to the quality of life in the Tallmadge community
through their service projects, fund-raising efforts and hard work. Projects
include tree plantings at Overdale and Munroe Schools and at Erie Street,
Construction of the pavillion at Mac Burleson Field and restrooms at the North
Avenue Soccer Complex, to name a few. Rotary has provided $20,000 in
scholarships to Tallmadge High School Graduates.
